JohnSeals.me is a personal blog written and self-hosted by John Seals out of California.

This site runs on Ghost, an open-source blogging platform, hosted on my own hardware at home. No cloud providers. No third-party hosting. No algorithms deciding what you see. Just a server in my house, a domain I own, and words I wrote.

I built this site because I got tired of putting my thoughts and content onto platforms I don't control. Social media companies own what you post, track what you read, and sell what they learn about you. I wanted a space that was mine. So, I made one.

What I Write About

Whatever is on my mind. That could be anything from technology and IT to opinions on the world around me. I also share things I learn in my career as a Systems Engineer in the healthcare industry. If something helped me, maybe it'll help someone else too.

How This Site Is Built

This blog is completely self-hosted on my own hardware. Everything is under my control, on my network, in my house.

No ads. No tracking. No cookies selling your data to someone you've never heard of.
