My name is John Seals

My name is John Seals. I'm a Systems Engineer working in the healthcare industry. Through my years in IT, I've seen a lot change. Trends come and go. Technological fads fade in and out of public use. And somewhere along the way, technology stopped feeling like it was for us.

Mega corporations own everyone's data and use it against the very people who handed it over. Cameras show up everywhere, promoted as safety tools, but really, they're tracking people's every move; collecting more data, and selling it to the highest bidder, or selling the innocent out to the authorities. Technology went from a never-ending sense of wonder during the '90s and early 2000s to being a tool used against the masses. The sad part is, most people don't even know it's happening to them.

But here's the thing, we're part of the problem too. We put our thoughts and ideas onto platforms we don't control. We put our work onto websites that can ban us for any reason, all while keeping our intellectual property. We pay for products we no longer have the right to own, instead paying for a digital license that can be revoked at any time.

So we need to take that back. Stand up and say, "This is me. This is mine. I own it, and you have no power here."

That's what this site is. I'm going back to the days of people creating their own content on their own websites. This is my space, where I'll blog about whatever is on my mind. No more giving it to corporations like Facebook or X. I'll also post things I come across in my technical career, allowing people to share in what I've learned along the way.
